SANDAHL WATCHES
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SANDAHL watches, ownership, testing and service.
ABOUT SANDAHL
SANDAHL is a Swedish watch brand. Our dials are manufactured in-house in Sweden, our mechanical movements are modified in-house, and our watches are assembled, regulated, pressure-tested and quality-controlled in Sweden. We prefer to describe exactly what we do rather than rely on a broad country-of-origin statement.
We combine Scandinavian design with hands-on Swedish manufacturing and quality control. Key stages including dial production, movement modification, assembly, regulation and final testing are carried out by SANDAHL in Sweden. Every completed watch is individually checked before delivery.
SANDAHL watches use mechanical automatic movements selected for the requirements of each collection. The specific calibre and movement information for each watch is stated on its product page.
Yes. The movements used in our watches are modified in-house by SANDAHL in Sweden. Depending on the calibre, this includes SANDAHL-specific finishing and components. The relevant SANDAHL calibre is specified for each model.
YOUR WATCH
Most product images on our website are digital renderings. They are created to represent our watches as faithfully as possible, but colours, surface textures and the appearance of materials may differ slightly from the physical watch. Lighting, reflections and your screen settings can all influence how these details appear.
Our hand-finished dials may also show subtle variations from one watch to another, reflecting the individual finishing process.
Yes. SANDAHL watches are powered by mechanical automatic movements. They are driven by mechanical energy rather than a battery and are wound through normal wrist movement as well as manually through the crown where applicable.
Mechanical watches naturally show small variations in rate depending on position, temperature, activity and state of wind. Rather than state one general rate for every watch, SANDAHL individually regulates and tests each watch before delivery. The measured performance of your watch is documented in the timegrapher test report supplied with it.
Yes. Every completed SANDAHL watch is individually inspected, regulated and function-tested before delivery. We also pressure-test every completed watch to 10 ATM and supply a timegrapher test report documenting its measured mechanical performance.
A timegrapher measures the performance of a mechanical movement. We use it during regulation and final testing, and the report supplied with your watch records the measured performance of that individual watch at the time of testing.
A mechanical movement is affected by factors such as wearing position, temperature, activity, magnetism and how fully the mainspring is wound. Some variation is therefore normal. If you notice a significant or persistent change in performance, contact SANDAHL and we can advise you.
WATER RESISTANCE & TESTING
The rating shown on the dial and in the specifications indicates the model's stated water resistance. Depending on the SANDAHL model, this is 100, 200 or 500 metres. Always follow the specification for your individual watch.
Every completed watch is individually pressure-tested to 10 ATM. Separately, each model has undergone a full-depth type test at its stated rating: 100, 200 or 500 metres.
For this type test, a case without the movement installed is lowered into water to the stated depth and held there for two minutes. It is then warmed to approximately 50°C and the crystal is cooled to check for condensation inside the case.
The full-depth test is a model type test, not a test performed at that depth on every delivered watch. These are SANDAHL’s own checks; we do not claim ISO water-resistance certification.
No. SANDAHL does not claim that its watches are tested or certified to an ISO water-resistance standard. We describe our own testing procedure and the water-resistance specification for each model.
No. Water resistance can decrease over time as seals and O-rings age or are affected by wear, temperature and use. The crown must also be correctly secured before the watch comes into contact with water.
If your watch is used frequently in water, we recommend a pressure test once a year. This does not have to be performed by SANDAHL; a qualified local watchmaker or watch retailer with suitable pressure-testing equipment can perform the test.
As preventive maintenance, we recommend inspection and, where necessary, replacement of O-rings and seals together with appropriate lubrication of threaded components approximately every five years. Watches exposed frequently to water may benefit from more frequent inspection.
No. Do not operate or unscrew the crown while the watch is wet or submerged. Before contact with water, make sure the crown is fully and correctly secured.
CARE & SERVICE
As a general guideline, we recommend having the condition and performance of the watch assessed after approximately 3–5 years. The appropriate action depends on the movement's condition and use. In some cases servicing is appropriate; in others, replacing the movement may be the more practical and economical solution. SANDAHL will assess the watch and recommend the appropriate option.
For everyday ownership guidance, see Care & Service.
Contact SANDAHL before sending your watch for service or warranty assessment. We discuss the issue, suitable action, expected timing and shipping arrangements individually.

A qualified local watchmaker can help with routine pressure testing and suitable bracelet adjustment. Contact SANDAHL before arranging repairs or modifications during the warranty period. Damage caused by unauthorised work is excluded from the commercial warranty; your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Wipe the watch regularly with a clean, soft cloth. For water-resistant models with a metal bracelet or suitable waterproof strap, light surface dirt can be removed carefully with fresh water once the crown is fully secured. Leather straps should be kept away from water. If you are uncertain about cleaning a particular material, contact SANDAHL before proceeding.
See Care & Service for material-specific cleaning and storage guidance.
Yes. Strong magnetic fields can affect the rate of a mechanical movement. Avoid prolonged close contact with strong magnets. If your watch suddenly begins gaining or losing significantly more time than usual, contact SANDAHL for advice.
WARRANTY & RETURNS
Sandahl Watches AB provides a 24-month warranty from the date of purchase for watches purchased directly from SANDAHL or from an authorised SANDAHL retailer. The warranty applies to customers in all countries.
This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory consumer rights under applicable law.
See our Warranty page for coverage and claim instructions.
Your warranty certificate accompanies your watch in the delivery.
The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects that occur under normal use during the warranty period, including:
- Movement functionality.
- Hands and dial.
- Functional parts of the case and bracelet, excluding normal wear.
If a defect is covered by the warranty, SANDAHL will repair the watch free of charge or replace it with the same or an equivalent model. The appropriate solution depends on the circumstances and the nature of the defect, following assessment of the watch.
Contact us so we can discuss the issue and the best way forward. This process does not restrict the remedies available to you under mandatory consumer law.
The warranty excludes normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse or lack of care, damage from unauthorized repairs or modifications, and leather straps and other consumable parts. Water damage caused by use beyond the stated rating, an unsecured crown or normal deterioration of seals and gaskets is excluded. Covered manufacturing and material defects remain subject to assessment, and your statutory rights are unaffected.
See the Warranty page for details.
Contact SANDAHL through our contact page or email info@sandahlwatches.com. You may also contact the authorised SANDAHL retailer from which you purchased the watch.
Please include your order number or purchase details, watch model, serial number if available, and a description of the issue. Photographs or a short video can help where the problem is visible.
Contact us before sending your watch so we can provide instructions for assessment and shipping to the service address below.
For a claim under the 24-month SANDAHL warranty, provide your warranty certificate and original receipt or other valid proof of purchase. The documents should allow us to identify the watch, seller and purchase date.
If a document is missing, contact us so we can help identify your purchase. These warranty-document requirements do not restrict your statutory right to complain about a faulty product.
You may notify SANDAHL that you wish to return your watch within 14 days, counted from the day after you receive or collect it. We offer this return period to customers in all countries we ship to.
Where statutory withdrawal rights apply, those rights take priority. Where no statutory change-of-mind return right applies, we offer the voluntary 14-day return policy described below. You do not need to give a reason.
For 14-day change-of-mind returns, you pay the direct return-shipping cost, with no handling fee or outbound-shipping deduction. Valid warranty and faulty-goods claims are handled separately. See Returns for the applicable terms and charges.
SHIPPING & ORDERS
We offer complimentary shipping to Sweden, all EU countries, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Within Sweden, we ship with PostNord Rek Extra for collection at a PostNord service point, where identification is required. For all other supported destinations, we use DHL Express door-to-door delivery with a signature required on receipt.
Every outbound shipment is fully insured for the watch’s full invoice value, including the work involved in making your watch.
For orders to Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States (USA), applicable customs duties and import taxes, including VAT where relevant, are calculated and collected at checkout. These amounts are paid by the customer and are shown before payment.
Complimentary shipping covers the shipping charge; it does not make import charges free. The amount depends on the destination and the applicable customs and tax rules.
If a carrier asks you to pay an import charge that you have already paid at checkout, please contact SANDAHL through our contact page so we can investigate.
Each SANDAHL watch is made to order. Our estimated production time is approximately four weeks from payment confirmation. This applies to all models.
Transport time is additional and varies by destination and carrier. The four-week estimate covers production only, not delivery to your address.
During periods of high demand, production may take longer. If a longer lead time is known when you order, we will state it before purchase. If we expect a delay after your order has been placed, we will contact you with an updated estimate. This does not limit your statutory rights if delivery is delayed.
For an update on your order, please use our contact page.
